Work / Agents & evidence

Where should I start researching a public question?

Inspect a narrow evidence-gathering workflow, from subquestions to source snippets and synthesis.

Scope: original public experiment. I built the application workflow and interface.

Use it to explore:

  • Get an initial orientation on a public topic.
  • Inspect whether a generated summary stays connected to the source material it received.
  1. Plan questions
  2. Search
  3. Inspect snippets
  4. Synthesize

What happens inside

The planner creates up to three subquestions. The search tool retrieves Wikipedia titles and snippets. The model synthesizes only from that limited material, and the interface links the named source pages.

Decisions and tradeoffs

Keep the source boundary visible

Wikipedia search is a narrow, explainable tool. It is not an exhaustive literature search.

Show the trail

Questions and source snippets help a reader inspect the path to the synthesis instead of receiving an unsupported answer.

Separate citation from verification

A source reference is a place to check a claim. It is not proof that the source entails the generated sentence.

Illustrative example

An illustrative evidence trail

For an introductory biological-control question: define the term, identify examples, and inspect limitations. The walkthrough below is authored and does not claim retrieved evidence.

What this does not establish

Search snippets omit context and the model may misinterpret them. Follow the source links and verify important claims. This is an introductory research workflow, not a substitute for a systematic review.

Try a live run

Live requests send your prompt to OpenRouter and the selected model provider. Use public, non-sensitive material. Read how demo data is handled.
